WILDLIFE RANGER CHALLENGE 2021

rangers-MAH4.JPG

You may remember last year we participated in the Wildlife Ranger Challenge organized by the conservation organization Tusk. We enjoyed taking part last year and our rangers had fun completing the course and being involved in a collaborative effort with rangers across Africa. This year we are participating again!

The main event is a race with one goal: to raise money to support thousands of rangers and protect iconic African wildlife such as elephants, pangolins, rhinos, lions, and of course lemurs, through the SIFAKA CONSERVATION program!

As the effects of the pandemic endure, and threats to wildlife continue to increase, it is more vital than ever to support the courageous people who are on the ground, putting themselves in danger every day for the sake of protecting wildlife. Without their tireless work, these already vulnerable habitats could be completely decimated. For endangered endemic species with restricted ranges (like so many in Madagascar!) this kind of damage could be irreversible.

The campaign was officially launched end of July, and we are fundraising for our project site that is most in need of support: the Mahajeby forests and wetlands, where an important population of crowned sifaka lives, as well as other critically endangered species such as the Madagascar big-headed turtle. We have our own Just Giving page to collect donations and just like last year, any funds that we receive will be matched by the Scheinberg Relief Fund, doubling any contribution we receive!

We are now at 30% of our target, and we are looking for your support to help us reach our goal for the conservation of Mahajeby Forests and wetlands.
